Decomposition, Defiguration, Re-orientation, Ignition, Composition

Abby Crain and Jose Ome Mazatl invite you to a three-hour participatory decomposition and embodied transformation practice.

Sunday, February 16,  2-5 pm

COME MOVE, SHIFT, AND DECOMPOSE  WHAT YOU NEED TO.  WE WILL OFFER A SIMPLE AND SPACIOUS SCORE FOR SIMULTANEOUS AND COMPANIONABLE  SOLO PROCESS, CO-THINKING, AND RECOGNITION. BRING OBJECTS AND TALISMANS FOR YOUR WORK, A NOTEBOOK, A WRITING UTENSIL, A SONG FOR THE PLAYLIST, AND BOOKS AND TEXTS FOR THE READING ROOM.

Composting is hot, slow, transformative.  It transitions skins into dirt,  rinds into mud, bones into chalk; it demands skill, tending, a recipe. Shredding is quick, final, cathartic;  it erases words, ideas, numbers, stories.  Mending takes patience, craft, skill, attention; it transforms the useless and discard- able into the treasured and tended.  Reading,  talking,  writing,  figuration, drawing, mapping, and outlining hone and reorient habits of mind, action, relation.
Hosted by Abby Crain and José Ome Navarrete Mazatl
